We are passionate about the provenance of our ingredients and local farms and suppliers are used wherever possible. This ensures ingredients are fresh and seasonal, the local community is supported and our carbon footprint is kept low. Our whole ethos centres around making the most of the wonderful produce we have on our doorstep.
All of our suppliers share our ethos and are respectful of the environment and how their produce is reared/grown/caught (whether a chicken, fish or salad leaf!). Sustainability and quality is more important to us, than the lowest possible cost. The taste is far better too.
The White Hart – us!
We have a large kitchen garden and grow lots of our own produce. Chefs also forage in local woodlands and hedgerows for fantastic seasonal produce, from wild garlic and mushrooms, to blackberries and elderflowers and sometimes even catch crayfish in the summer months!
Ben Lay, Manor Farm, Fyfield, Oxfordshire
Ben Lay is our local farmer and delivers eggs to us every week and turkeys at Christmas time.
Millets is a local farm centre, with fields bordering Fyfield where lots of fantastic produce is grown less than a mile from our doorstep. The Fyfield asparagus is the best we have had!
Owned and run by Paul Munsey, a fourth generation miller, the Wessex Mill supplies us wonderful flour, so we can bake our own bread daily. Their flour has all been milled using wheat grown locally and is milled to produce top quality bread time after time.
Andy and Jane, a husband and wife team, run Dews Meadow Farm with passion and care. Products are additive free and Jane makes the best black pudding we have ever tasted!
Family run by Christopher and Ellie Maughan, their free range outdoor reared sows are well cared for and even named! Christopher says “the whole process, from the birth of the pig to the plate is overseen by me. I know exactly where the pig comes from, exactly how it is treated and exactly how it is prepared. I even know exactly who is going to provide it to the consumer.”
Bucksum began in 2006 from a simple garden polytunnel and now supplies an amazing array of award winning specialist salad leaves. Husband and wife team, David and Tracy are passionate about local seasonal produce and it shows in the quality of their leaves.
Based in Ashampstead, Vicars supply only the finest game from respected dealers and local farmers. Quality, animal welfare and provenance is at the heart of their ethos.
Based on the Cornish coast, Flying Fish source the finest and freshest fish directly from Cornwall’s local fishermen. They care passionately about responsible sourcing and protecting fish stocks to ensure sustainability.
