A message from Kay and Mark:
Dear customers, friends and our local community,
It is with great sadness that we have taken the decision to temporarily close The White Hart completely until the Coronavirus pandemic improves and it is safe to reopen. We have spent the last 15 years of our lives building our business and working hard to fulfil our dream of a restaurant, so this has not been an easy decision to make. We have navigated our way through the last 2 weeks doing everything we can to protect the livelihoods of our team and serve our community the best we can. However, given the new government advice, continuing with takeaway means a number of people (in the vulnerable category) from different households would need to mix and we do not feel that this is socially responsible at the moment (much as I am sure some of you will consider that White Hart meals are a necessity!).
Our team and our amazing customers are the heart and soul of our business and we feel that their protection and the protection of others must come first.
We have been totally overwhelmed by the support from everyone over the last few weeks. It has been truly heart-warming, so a huge THANK YOU to every single one of you who has ordered take away, bought gift vouchers and sent messages of support.
While we are closed, we will be sharing some recipes to help you recreate at home some of what makes The White Hart special, so keep an eye out on social media! We will be keeping busy - Mark and I have volunteered to help out where we live and those team members who live in Fyfield and drive, have offered to help out in the Fyfield community collecting shopping or medicines. So, just give us a shout if there is anything we can do.
We will continue to monitor government advice and can’t wait to welcome you back through our doors and raise a glass to the White Hart community! In the meantime, please stay safe, be kind and look after one another.

Our passion is to create the best in Modern British Dining, sourced mainly from local suppliers and our kitchen gardens. This ensures food is fresh and keeps our carbon footprint low.
Located in the pretty village of Fyfield, the lovingly restored 15th century hostelry is an unforgettable setting - whether you dine inside under vaulted ceilings or out in our garden.
The White Hart has held two rosettes for culinary excellence for thirteen years running and the quality of ingredients is at the heart of our ethos.
Our chef Mark and his highly skilled team prepare all of the dishes on the premises everyday, including bread, pasta, ice cream and even the horseradish sauce for Sunday roasts. We aim to delight the eyes and excite the palate with delicious food.

Owing to our unique layout, we cater for a variety of functions, from intimate dinner parties to weddings, larger celebrations, wakes and business meetings. Or pop by for one of our regular in-house events, such as our popular Wednesday Dinner Club and Cocktail Hour.

Since arriving at the White Hart in 2005, Mark and Kay Chandler have restored this beautiful hostelry to its 15th century former glory. From the vaulted ceiling to the flagstone floors, the unique space is steeped in history.
As a family-run business, everything here is done with care, thought and passion.

We are passionate about provenance. Our kitchen garden provides wonderful produce picked just hours before arriving on your plate. Local woodlands and hedgerows also offer seasonal delights, from wild garlic and mushrooms, to blackberries and elderflowers.
